The Only Rooftop Zipline in America
Zipline Near New York City — The Only Rooftop Zipline in America, 2.5 Hours Away
New York City has no shortage of things to do — but a rooftop zipline launching from a 33-story hotel tower isn't one of them. For that, you need to drive 2.5 hours north to Mashantucket, Connecticut, where HighFlyer Zipline at Foxwoods Resort Casino offers something genuinely unique: the only zipline in America that launches from the top of a hotel tower, sending riders soaring nearly a mile at up to 60 mph. HighFlyer is Connecticut's longest zipline, Connecticut's fastest zipline, and one of the most distinctive outdoor adventure experiences on the entire East Coast. For New Yorkers looking for a weekend getaway or day trip that actually delivers, it's the rare kind of drive that's worth it.
Getting Here from New York City
From Midtown Manhattan, the drive to Foxwoods is approximately 2.5 hours under normal conditions — less if you leave early and beat the I-95 corridor.
The most direct route: take I-95 North through Connecticut. Take Exit 79A at North Stonington/Foxwoods onto Route 2 West. Follow Route 2 West for approximately 6 miles — Foxwoods Resort Casino is clearly signposted. Total distance is approximately 130 miles from Midtown.
Foxwoods Resort Casino is located at 240 Fox Tower Drive, Mashantucket, CT 06338. Parking is free and plentiful — a genuine luxury compared to anything in the city.
Tip: Leave New York by 9:30am on a weekend — with the 2.5-hour drive and potential I-95 delays through New Haven, that puts you at Foxwoods right around the noon opening. Arriving at open means no wait and the full afternoon ahead of you before the 6:00 pm close.
Connecticut's Longest, Fastest Zipline — Launched From a Hotel Rooftop
Most ziplines are forest canopy experiences. HighFlyer is in a completely different category — and for New Yorkers used to experiences that overpromise, this one doesn't.
This is Connecticut's longest zipline at nearly 4,000 feet. Connecticut's fastest zipline at speeds reaching 60 mph. And, most importantly, the only zipline in America that launches from the rooftop of a hotel tower. You take an elevator to the top of Fox Tower, step out onto a launch platform 350 feet above the ground, and fly. Four side-by-side lines mean you can race a friend, partner, or group member on the way down, landing nearly a mile away at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum. A shuttle returns you to the tower.

Why This Outdoor Adventure Is Worth the Drive from New York
New Yorkers make the drive to Connecticut, upstate New York, and the Catskills constantly. The question is always whether the destination justifies the trip. HighFlyer has a clear answer: it's the only rooftop hotel zipline in the United States. That's not a regional claim or a marketing superlative. There is no other experience like it within a reasonable drive of New York City, which makes the 2.5-hour investment feel worthwhile in a way that a generic "adventure park" wouldn't.
For the outdoor adventure category (ziplines, ropes courses, climbing), New England has good options. But Connecticut's HighFlyer is the one that no one else can copy: an urban rooftop launch point, resort-level infrastructure, and an adrenaline experience that starts with an elevator and ends a mile away. It's genuinely bucket-list worthy, which isn't a phrase that applies to most day trips from the city.
Make a Weekend of It
At 2.5 hours from the city, this works as a long day trip, or more comfortably, an overnight weekend getaway. Foxwoods Resort gives you far more than the zipline alone.
Stay at the resort: Foxwoods has multiple hotels including the Grand Pequot Tower and Fox Tower itself. Booking a room means you can take the zipline, have dinner, see a show, and wake up without a 5-hour round trip. Resort rates often compare favorably to Manhattan prices.
Monza Thrill Pack: HighFlyer's combo experience (from $77) pairs your Connecticut zipline with indoor go-kart racing at Monza at Foxwoods. Two adrenaline activities, one weekend. If you've driven from New York for an adventure experience, this combo is the obvious way to extend it.
Corporate and group bookings from NYC: The side-by-side ziplines make HighFlyer a natural choice for corporate team-building outings, group birthday trips, and company retreats. Groups of 10–20 from New York City regularly make the drive for a shared outdoor experience that no conference room can replicate. Contact us for group rates.
Mystic, CT: For the return trip, Mystic is 20 minutes from Foxwoods. Mystic Seaport Museum, the Aquarium, and strong seafood restaurants make it a worthy stop before heading back to the city.
Newport, RI: If you're making a full weekend, Newport is about an hour from Foxwoods. The Gilded Age mansion tours, the Cliff Walk, and the harbor make it one of the strongest weekend destinations on the East Coast. Pair it with a Friday night at Foxwoods and a Sunday in Newport for a two-day trip that covers everything.
A Unique Gift Experience for Someone in New York
Looking for a gift that no one in New York already has? A HighFlyer zipline experience is a genuine one-of-a-kind present for a birthday, graduation, anniversary, or anyone who prefers experiences over things. Book online and choose a date, or purchase a gift booking and let them pick their own flight time.
For New York-based companies planning team-building activities in Connecticut, HighFlyer is increasingly popular for half-day off-sites. The four side-by-side lines are built for teams. Contact us directly for group availability and rates.
Ready to Book Your NYC Weekend Getaway?
HighFlyer opens mid-May and runs through the last weekend of October. From mid-June through the end of August we're open seven days a week, so if you can make a midweek trip from New York, that's your best bet for avoiding weekend crowds and securing a spot more easily. Outside that peak window (mid-May to mid-June, and September through October) we operate Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. Given the 2.5-hour drive, double-check the operating schedule before you head out, and book your Connecticut zipline tickets well in advance. Weekend spots go fast regardless of the month.
